Over 100 Indian information and communication technology (ICT) firms are participating in Gitex Global across 12 pavilions, organized under the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC), the leading body for Indian ICT exporters. The showcased products include advanced solutions and devices in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, mobility, sustainable technologies, fintech, and banking solutions.

Veer Sagar, chairman of India’s Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC), emphasized that this year’s focus is on demonstrating India’s deep tech capabilities. “These technologies have the potential to tackle complex societal issues like healthcare, climate change, genomics, blockchain, and cybersecurity, which are crucial for current development efforts,” he stated.

Sunjay Sudhir, the Indian ambassador to the UAE, inaugurated the pavilion. Sagar further noted that India boasts over 3,600 deep tech startups, with more than 480 established in 2023. “ESC sees significant potential for bilateral and multilateral collaborations to promote India’s deep tech sector, develop intricate solutions across sectors like education, healthcare, climate change, and enhance digitization in the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) sector,” Sagar added.

Kamal Vachani, regional director of ESC-Dubai, highlighted that India’s participation in Gitex 2024 aims not just to exhibit cutting-edge products and solutions but also to illustrate India’s evolving role as a technology leader. “India is no longer merely a follower but also a leader in certain ICT segments due to its relentless focus on innovation and R&D,” he said.

Sandeep Narula, Chairman (Global Outreach) of ESC, underscored the robust trade ties between India and the UAE, stating, “The trade relationship between India and the UAE has grown into one of remarkable strength and mutual benefit.”
