The Australian police announced on Monday that they have initiated an international manhunt for a man accused of pouring hot coffee on a nine-month-old baby, resulting in severe burns.

Queensland Police's Paul Dalton revealed that a 33-year-old suspect fled the country just days after committing what the detective described as 'the most cowardly' crime he has witnessed in his decades-long career.

The incident occurred during a family picnic in a Brisbane park in late August. The man, believed to be an itinerant worker, allegedly poured scalding coffee over the baby's face and limbs. The infant sustained serious burns and required multiple surgeries.

The police have no understanding of the man's motive. He was not known to the family and is now thought to be in an undisclosed country. He is facing charges of intending to cause grievous bodily harm, which could result in a life sentence.

Dalton emphasized that the 'dogged and determined' police force will not cease their efforts until the man is apprehended and brought to justice. 'We will keep going until we find you,' he stated. 'We are fully committed to doing everything we possibly can lawfully to get this person back here to face justice.'
