Iran is constructing a 'defensive tunnel' in the capital Tehran, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency. This development follows recent strikes by Israel on targets within the country. The tunnel, situated near the city center, will connect a station on the Tehran metro to the Imam Khomeini hospital, providing direct underground access to the medical facility.
'For the first time in the country, a tunnel with defensive applications is being built in Tehran,' stated the head of transport for Tehran City Council in an interview with Tasnim. Last month, Israel conducted its first officially acknowledged strikes in Iran, targeting missile factories and other sites near Tehran and in the western part of the country, in response to Iran's October 1 attack on Israeli territory.
