Iran aims to foster stability in the region, yet this goal can only be achieved by penalizing the aggressor and establishing deterrence against the reckless actions of the Zionist regime (Israel), according to Nasser Kanaani. He emphasized that Tehran's involvement is unavoidable. Kanaani urged the United States to cease its support for Israel, stating that the international community has not fulfilled its obligation to ensure regional stability and should endorse the "punishment of the aggressor."
The Iranian foreign ministry summoned ambassadors and heads of missions in Tehran for a meeting with acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani on Monday to reinforce Iran's determination to retaliate against Israel. An emergency session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is scheduled for Wednesday at Iran's request to address the killing of Haniyeh and Iran's reaction, as stated by Kanaani. Tehran and Iran-aligned groups like Hamas and Hezbollah have accused Israel of assassinating Haniyeh on July 31 in the Iranian capital. His demise is part of a string of assassinations targeting senior Hamas members as the conflict in Gaza between Hamas and Israel approaches its 11th month. Israeli officials have not admitted to the responsibility. The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps' top Commander Hossein Salami reiterated on Monday the elite group's warning that Israel "will receive punishment in due time."
