Iran has pledged to retaliate against the latest sanctions imposed by Britain, France, and Germany, which were enacted due to allegations that Iran supplied short-range missiles to Russia for use in Ukraine.

"This action by the three European nations is a continuation of the West's hostile policy and economic terrorism against the Iranian people, which will be met with an appropriate and proportionate response from the Islamic Republic of Iran," stated Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanani in a statement issued late Tuesday.

The three governments announced their intention to revoke air services agreements with Iran and to "work towards imposing sanctions on Iran Air." They further stated, "In addition, we will pursue the designation of significant entities and individuals involved with Iran's ballistic missile program and the transfer of ballistic missiles and other weapons to Russia."

Iran has once again denied any involvement in supplying weapons to Russia for use in the Ukraine conflict. "Any claim that the Islamic Republic of Iran has sold ballistic missiles to the Russian Federation is entirely baseless and false," Kanani asserted.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken claimed that Russia had received shipments of ballistic missiles from Iran and that "they will likely be used within weeks in Ukraine." He also mentioned that dozens of Russian military personnel had received training in Iran on using the Fath-360 missile, which has a range of 120km.
