Women gathered in front of the Iranian embassy in Prague on November 11, 2024, holding placards in solidarity with an Iranian female student identified on social media as Ahoo Daryaei. The student was seen in her underwear at a Tehran university as a protest against the country's strict Islamic dress code. The rally was also in support of all Iranian women fighting for freedom.

Iran's judiciary announced on Tuesday that no indictment has been issued against the student who stripped down to her underwear at a university in Tehran. "Given that she was taken to the hospital and diagnosed with an illness, she was released to her family... and no legal action has been taken against her," stated judiciary spokesman Asghar Jahangir during a press conference, without naming the student. Earlier in November, a video of a female student went viral online, showing her sitting and briefly walking at Islamic Azad University in Tehran before removing her clothes.

The incident drew strong reactions from Iranian officials, where covering the neck and head and dressing modestly became mandatory for women following the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Science Minister Hossein Simaei condemned the act as "immoral and uncustomary," while clarifying that the student had not been expelled from her university. Amnesty International, based in London, claimed the woman was "violently arrested after she removed her clothes in protest against the abusive enforcement of compulsory veiling by security officials." Iranian government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani refuted both the violent nature of her arrest and any link to the Islamic dress code, stating, "The issue was actually something else," and noting that "this level of nudity is not accepted anywhere." The university later confirmed that the student had been handed over to the police and was found to be "under severe pressure and suffering from a mental disorder."

The incident occurred amidst months-long nationwide protests in Iran following the September 2022 death of 22-year-old Iranian Kurd Mahsa Amini while in custody for allegedly violating the dress code for women. The unrest resulted in hundreds of deaths, including dozens of security personnel, and thousands of demonstrators were arrested.
