By definition, a true 6x6 is a six-wheeled vehicle where all axles receive power. However, we suspect that this wild Ferrari Testarossa does not have power at the front. We also cannot confirm if all four wheels at the rear are driven. For simplicity—and because it sounds incredibly cool—we'll refer to this outrageous creation as a 6x6 Testarossa. What exactly is happening here? We wish we had more answers, but what you see is essentially what you get.
Hvber.Media on Instagram captured this custom Ferrari on a flatbed trailer in Dallas, Texas. It appears to be a work-in-progress—front fenders are missing, and there's no cover over the Ferrari's flat 12 engine, assuming there's even an engine in there. At the very back, a massive diffuser looks unfinished.
We don't have any official information, but we're fairly certain that Dallas-based Gas Monkey Garage is behind this project. Besides the sighting in Dallas, Gas Monkey boss Richard Rawlings purchased five Testarossas last year, all used as movie cars for the film Infinite. These movie cars were in rough condition and were modified to some extent. If someone were to build a six-wheeled Testarossa, starting with a bunch of beat-up ex-movie cars would be a great way to begin.
If that evidence isn't convincing enough, the tow rig seen in the Instagram video—a black/silver Ram pickup towing a three-axle flatbed with custom wheels—matches the one seen earlier today on the Gas Monkey Garage live camera outside the shop. Lastly, the Gas Monkey crew already built a crazy custom Testarossa from this collection. Last year, they showcased a roofless three-seater EV called Testa at SEMA. Could this six-wheeler be their next Ferrari SEMA build? Only time will tell.
We have reached out to Gas Monkey Garage for confirmation. In the meantime, we're on the lookout for more information. H/T to Samuel / Hvber.Media for the video.
