A Syria war monitor reported that Israeli strikes in the capital and central Homs province on Thursday resulted in the deaths of two individuals, including a soldier. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that the strikes in Damascus's Kafr Sousa district targeted 'the courtyard of a government building near a military fuel station.' 'One person whose identity remains unknown' was killed, and three others were injured, according to the Britain-based war monitor. In Homs province, which adjoins Lebanon where Israeli forces are engaged in combat with Hezbollah, the Israeli strikes 'targeted a truck near a regime forces checkpoint on the road on the outskirts of Qusayr.' This attack led to the death of a soldier and injured four others, the Observatory reported. Syrian state news agency Sana mentioned that the Israeli army 'launched an air attack...targeting two sites' in the Kafr Sousa district of Damascus and a military site near Homs, resulting in one soldier's death and seven others wounded.

Since the outbreak of the civil war in 2011, Israel has conducted hundreds of strikes in Syria, primarily targeting the Syrian army and Iran-backed armed groups, including Hezbollah. The Israeli military has increased its strikes since initiating its war against Hezbollah in neighboring Lebanon last month. Israel rarely acknowledges individual strikes in Syria but has consistently stated that it will not permit Iran to extend its influence.
