The Israeli military announced that its fighter jets targeted thousands of Hezbollah rocket launchers in southern Lebanon on Sunday morning, which were set to strike northern and central Israel.
"Around 100 IAF fighter jets... carried out strikes and obliterated thousands of Hezbollah rocket launcher barrels that were situated and concealed in southern Lebanon," stated the military in an official release. "The majority of these launchers were directed towards northern Israel, with a few targeting central Israel." In response, Hezbollah launched hundreds of rockets and UAVs towards northern Israel, with most of these actions occurring post-Israel's initial assault, according to Israeli military spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Nadav Shoshani.
Shoshani explained that Hezbollah's retaliatory fire was "part of a broader attack strategy that we managed to disrupt significantly this morning," though he refrained from detailing Hezbollah's specific targets. "We are currently evaluating the situation following the attack... there continues to be sporadic fire," Shoshani noted. "However, I can confirm that there was minimal damage... extremely minor damage." He also clarified that Israel's allies, including the United States, were not involved in the Sunday morning operation against Hezbollah. "This morning's actions were solely an Israeli operation," he emphasized.
