Over 100 Palestinians lost their lives and many more were injured following an Israeli attack on a school in the Daraj area of eastern Gaza, which was being used as a refuge for displaced individuals, according to the Palestinian news outlet WAFA on Saturday.

On August 3, a Hamas leader was killed in an Israeli airstrike on a vehicle in the occupied West Bank, as reported by Hamas media, while WAFA stated that four additional individuals were also killed. WAFA did not provide clear details about the identities of these other victims.

The conflict in Gaza escalated after Hamas's assault on southern Israel on October 7, which led to the deaths of 1,195 people, predominantly civilians, according to an AFP count using Israeli data. The militants also took 251 hostages, of whom 116 are still in Gaza, including 42 who the military claims are deceased. In retaliation, Israel launched a military campaign that has resulted in the deaths of at least 38,098 people in Gaza, largely civilians, according to figures from the health ministry in the Hamas-controlled territory. The ongoing war has displaced 90% of Gaza's population, left nearly 500,000 people facing 'catastrophic' hunger, and caused the closure of most hospitals, as reported by UN agencies.
