Italy secured their spot in the Davis Cup final with a 2-0 victory over Australia on Saturday, thanks to Jannik Sinner's straight-sets win against Alex de Minaur, following Matteo Berrettini's triumph over Thanasi Kokkinakis for the defending champions.

The rematch of last year's final concluded with the same outcome, as Sinner, currently ranked No 1, once again overcame De Minaur. This victory propelled Italy into Sunday's final, where they will face the Netherlands, who advanced to the decider for the first time after defeating Germany 2-0.

Berrettini initially lost the opening set in a tiebreak but rallied to win 6-7 (6), 6-3, 7-5. Sinner took an early lead by breaking serve and going up 2-0 in the first set. Although De Minaur managed to break back, Sinner's second break proved crucial.

The second set saw both players holding serve for the first eight games, with De Minaur matching Sinner's intensity. However, Sinner broke through to lead 5-4 and served out the match for a 6-3, 6-4 victory.
