Ivory Coast suffered a crushing 264-run defeat at the hands of Nigeria in Lagos on Sunday, recording the lowest score ever in a men’s T20 international. After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Nigeria’s Selim Salau blazed 112 off 53 balls, helping the hosts amass 271 in the 2026 T20 World Cup regional qualifier.

Ivory Coast’s response was feeble, with opener Ouattara Mohamed managing the highest score of four runs at the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval. Mimi Alex, Maiga Ibrahim, and Dje Claude each contributed one run to the total. Six batters were dismissed for ducks.

The previous record for the lowest score in a men’s T20 was 10 runs, jointly held by Mongolia and the Isle of Man. In women’s T20I, the lowest total is six, shared by Maldives and Mali. The 264-run margin of defeat also ranks as the third-highest in a men’s T20 international.
