Jack Wilshere is on the verge of becoming Norwich City's first-team coach, as the Championship club is confident in appointing the ex-Arsenal midfielder to their coaching staff.
The 32-year-old former England international, who currently serves as Arsenal's under-18s manager, has a strong rapport with Norwich's sporting director, Ben Knapper, who previously held the role of loans manager at Arsenal.
Wilshere, who retired from playing two years ago, swiftly transitioned into coaching within Arsenal's academy. He is set to take over from Narcís Pelach, who departed Norwich last month to become Stoke City's head coach.
Wilshere is anticipated to join Johannes Hoff Thorup's coaching team, with Arsenal reportedly giving their approval. Negotiating a compensation package is expected to be uncomplicated, making the move a near certainty.
Wilshere, who made 197 appearances for Arsenal, is enthusiastic about the prospect of aiding Norwich in their bid to return to the Premier League following their relegation in 2021-22. Norwich, who are currently seventh in the league and unbeaten in their last four matches, will face Pelach's Stoke on Saturday.
Wilshere's coaching journey began with Arsenal's under-14s. Reflecting on his transition into coaching last year, Wilshere stated, "I love it. It has reignited my deep passion for football – a passion I didn't realize I had lost."
