Jake Paul emerged victorious over boxing legend Mike Tyson via unanimous decision in an intergenerational heavyweight clash in Texas on Friday, a bout that fell short of its immense hype. The showdown between the 27-year-old social media star turned prizefighter Paul and the 58-year-old former heavyweight champion Tyson was broadcast live on Netflix and took place in front of a packed audience at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
Streaming issues were reported on Netflix as the event unfolded. Prior to the match, during the formal weigh-in, Tyson delivered a solid right-hand slap to Paul's cheek. Security personnel quickly intervened to separate the two fighters, escorting Tyson away shortly after the incident.
Tyson weighed in at 228.4 pounds, while Paul came in at 227.2 pounds. "Talking's over," Tyson declared before departing with his entourage. Paul, unfazed, remarked, "I didn't even feel it -- he's angry. He's an angry little elf...cute slap buddy." The YouTuber concluded with a profanity-laced vow to knock Tyson out, theatrically shouting into a microphone, "He must die." (Inputs from AFP, Reuters)
