Jamie Camero is poised to start a thrilling new phase as she undertakes her golf scholarship at the University of Central Florida (UCF) in the United States. Here, she will face off against top young golfers from around the globe, honing her abilities and embracing fresh challenges.

Khaleej Times recently interviewed the UAE national to discuss her initial experiences on the program, which could shape her career in golf. As per the latest World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) backed by the R&A, Jamie ranks 473rd, boasting eight victories, 12 top 10 placements, and a peak ranking of 280th.

In the interview, Jamie shared her impressions of the first weeks at UCF: "It's been a busy few weeks on campus, but I'm now getting settled and have had the opportunity to familiarize myself with the golf facilities and meet the coaching staff. With classes and training about to begin, it's a thrilling period."

She continued, "I've always known UCF is one of the biggest campuses in the US, but seeing it in person really highlights the scope of university life. So far, everything is going smoothly. It's a mix of all I've trained for over the years, combined with new adaptations I need to make."

Jamie also noted the rapid shift from minimal golfing over the past months to intense practice ahead of her first event. The favorable weather in Florida, often referred to as the Sunshine State, reminds her of her home course in Dubai.

Excited about the upcoming opportunities, Jamie said, "I'm eager to play on the many renowned courses in Florida, all of which are part of my practice and tournament plans. I plan to make full use of the UCF facilities, conveniently located nearby. My practice schedule clearly shows the significant time devoted to golf, which is exactly why I chose to come here."

Jamie's golf calendar for the remainder of 2024 includes several prestigious events: The Annika from September 9th to 11th, the Illini Women’s Invitational on October 7th and 8th, the Mercedes Benz from October 20th to 22nd, and the Landfall Tradition between October 25th and 27th.
