Actor, singer, and comedian Jamie Foxx recently shared details about his health struggles during his one-man show, One More Chance: An Evening with Jamie Foxx, in Atlanta, as reported by People. Posting on his Instagram, Foxx shared images from the event and expressed his gratitude, saying, "God is good.... As I share these pictures, my heart and soul are filled with pure joy... On October 3rd and 4th, I had the chance to tell my story, and there was no better place than Atlanta, Georgia."
He continued, "I must thank Atlanta for showing up and showing out. I hadn't been on stage in 18 years, but I needed the stage and an audience full of love, and that's exactly what I got." When asked if the show was a stand-up comedy performance, Foxx clarified, "No, it's an artistic explanation of something that went terribly wrong." He credited the people of Atlanta, particularly Piedmont Hospital, for helping him return to the stage and do what he loves most.
In the pictures shared, Foxx appeared emotional. One notable photo showed his 16-year-old daughter, Anelise, playing an electric guitar beside him. Music producer Breyon Prescott commented on the post, "@iamjamiefoxx, the show you put on in Atlanta was one of the most amazing things I've witnessed in my 30+ years in this business. God continue to bless you, my brother. You are truly the most gifted and talented person I know!"
Foxx had previously mentioned going through a medical emergency that he wasn't sure he would survive. Last year, he released a video on Instagram, tearfully discussing his suffering and why he kept his physical condition private. He captioned the video, "Thank you a billion to everyone... It's been a long road, but prayers, great people, and God got me through...." Foxx explained, "I went through something I never dreamed I'd have to go through." He waited to speak out because he didn't want people to see him with tubes in his body, preferring to be seen laughing, having a good time, and working on movies and TV shows.
Foxx also addressed internet rumors that he was paralyzed and blind, admitting he went through "hell and back" but is now able to work despite minor setbacks in his recovery.
