Jana Kramer and her husband, Allan Russell, recently opened up about their comfort level with filming sex scenes during their marriage. On Kramer’s podcast, “Whine Down,” Russell joined his wife to talk about a recent episode of “Yellowstone” that featured a passionate sex scene between Wes Bentley and Dawn Olivieri.
“There’s not part of me that will ever, ever, ever allow that, ever, for a man to be that close to you like that,” Russell, a former Scottish professional soccer player, told his wife. “Never.” Kramer then asked what would happen if she were offered a role that required such a scene, to which Russell jokingly replied, “Then I will go Tommy Lee on everyone.” He added that he would call the producers and demand the scene be changed.
Kramer pressed further, asking if he would expect her to turn down any role that included a sex scene. “No. I wouldn’t let you do that scene. No. That’s not good for a marriage, that type of role,” Russell said, explaining that as someone not in the acting world, it would be difficult for him to accept.
The couple then flipped the scenario, with Russell asking how Kramer would feel if he filmed an intimate scene. Kramer admitted she would be okay with it, recalling past relationships with actors who had filmed sex scenes. “It’s literally the most uncomfortable thing ever,” she said, mentioning a scene from “Entourage” where she had to simulate a hand job.
Kramer also discussed past intimate scenes she filmed, including ones with Stephen Colletti in “One Tree Hill” and Austin Nichols in “Gaslit By My Husband.” Russell expressed his discomfort with the idea of Kramer locking eyes with another man while filming such scenes. “You’re never fully naked though,” Kramer pointed out, adding that she was in lingerie for one of the scenes.
The couple continued to debate the topic on-air, with Kramer eventually declaring, “I literally can’t win.” Russell responded, “No, you can’t win, so don’t try.”
