Jason Sudeikis is standing up for 'Ted Lasso' against its detractors. The 49-year-old actor and co-creator of the Apple TV+ series responded to criticisms of the show's third season in an interview with journalist Jeremy Egner, which is featured in his new book, 'Believe: The Untold Story Behind Ted Lasso, the Show That Kicked Its Way Into Our Hearts,' released today.

During the interview, Egner pointed out to Sudeikis that 'a small but vocal group of dissenters' had issues with 'how the [show's] core cast had been dispersed into various storylines,' arguing that the narrative had become 'too scattered and unfocused'—especially concerning Keeley and Nate's character arcs. Sudeikis refuted the critics' viewpoint, suggesting that some viewers simply lack 'imagination.'

'Much like live theater, the show, particularly Season 3, was inviting the audience to actively participate,' the actor explained, as reported by TVLine. 'Some people are willing to do that, while others are not. Some prefer to judge rather than be curious.' Fans of 'Ted Lasso' will recall Sudeikis' reference to Coach Lasso's mantra: 'Be curious, not judgmental.'

'I can't comprehend people who openly discuss something they, in my view, clearly don't grasp,' Sudeikis continued. 'And I wish them well; it's not their fault. They lack imagination and are not open to the experience of having one.'

Reflecting on how the show's characters concluded the season, the Emmy winner stated, 'Everyone is in better shape than when they began. Like a good Boy or Girl Scout at a campsite, we left it better than we found it. And if you don't see that in the show, then I'm not sure what show you're watching.'

The third season of 'Ted Lasso' was initially believed to be its final installment, but recent rumors suggest a fourth season might be in the works. According to Deadline, Warner Bros. Television—the production company behind the hit series—has exercised options on original cast members Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift. In August, 'Ted Lasso' co-creator and executive producer Bill Lawrence exclusively informed The Post that the decision on a potential fourth season lies with Sudeikis.

'You can ask anyone who wrote, acted, or produced the show, and we'll all say the same thing: that's up to Jason Sudeikis,' Lawrence said while promoting his latest Apple TV+ show 'Bad Monkey.' 'Because, he's not just Ted Lasso and the co-creator—but he's the one who would have to relocate his entire life and family, you know?' Filmed in the UK, 'Ted Lasso' necessitated Sudeikis, who is based in the US and shares two children—son Otis, 10, and daughter Daisy, 8—with his ex-fiancée, American actress Olivia Wilde, 40, to move across the Atlantic to work on the show.
