Jennifer Lopez is embracing the holiday spirit, even as her divorce from Ben Affleck looms. The 55-year-old singer, known for her hit “Let’s Get Loud,” shared her holiday plans with People magazine, revealing how she intends to celebrate Christmas next month after ending her two-year marriage to the 52-year-old “Argo” actor. “It was a pretty intense year for me, and I’m most looking forward to spending time with my kids and my family coming from the East Coast,” she told the publication in an interview released on Tuesday. “The holidays have always been a special time for us, ever since I was a little girl,” Lopez continued. “I really look forward to those moments when I can be with my sisters and just relax, have fun, and create new memories.”
Lopez’s family includes her mother, Guadalupe Rodriguez, sisters Lynda and Leslie Lopez, and her 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme, whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony. Having spent the last two holiday seasons married to Affleck, Lopez views this year’s festivities as an opportunity to “slow down” and “enjoy” time with her loved ones. “We don’t get to see each other all year,” she noted, “so we catch up on what everyone’s doing and how life is. It’s just a beautiful time. I really enjoy it.”
Lopez also expressed her love for the holiday season, saying, “I love all the decorations, hot chocolate, music, and food. I’m one of those people who really tries to make it out of a storybook for my kids with all those things. I’m a sucker for the holidays.” Looking ahead to the new year, the “Unstoppable” star mentioned that 2025 is about “a deeper connection to myself and to God, making sure we’re checking with ourselves so we can be great for everybody that we love around us.” She also plans to push her creative boundaries, whether through acting, music, producing, or expanding her beauty brand, JLo Beauty. “I want to continue challenging myself to evolve and try new things while staying true to who I am and those I love,” she added.
Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck in Los Angeles County Superior Court on August 20, marking the two-year anniversary of their second wedding ceremony. She listed the date of separation as April 26, 2024. The “Shotgun Wedding” star is reportedly still residing in the $68 million Beverly Hills mansion she shared with Affleck, which went on the market in July but hasn’t sold yet. Meanwhile, Affleck purchased a $20.5 million Los Angeles mansion over the summer. An August report suggested that Lopez isn’t comfortable living in their former marital home, as it’s “way too big for her and filled with too many memories.”
In a recent interview with Nikki Glaser for Interview Magazine, Lopez addressed her divorce from Affleck, admitting that her “whole f—ing world exploded” after the couple ended their romance. She also expressed her desire to remain single following her fourth divorce, saying, “I’m not looking for anybody, because everything I’ve done over the past 25, 30 years, being in these different challenging situations, what can I f–king do when it’s just me flying on my own.” Affleck, on the other hand, made a rare comment about Lopez while discussing their upcoming film “Unstoppable.” He told Entertainment Tonight that Lopez “is spectacular” in the film, in which she plays the mother of a one-legged athlete. The exes filmed “Unstoppable” before their separation, with Lopez attending the film’s world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, while Affleck did not.
