Jennifer Lopez reminisced about her journey in music during a pre-recorded segment at the American Music Awards’ 50th Anniversary Special. The 55-year-old singer shared her childhood memories of watching the award show and how it inspired her to pursue a career in music.

Lopez reflected on her first appearance at the event in 2001, describing the electric energy in the room. She also fondly remembered her win for Favorite Latin Artist in 2011, emphasizing the specialness of a fan-voted award.

As the host of the award show in 2015, Lopez considered it a huge honor. She detailed her decision to change her wardrobe for each stage appearance, aiming to spread love and energy through a dance medley of that year’s hits.

Lopez’s speech came shortly after her public divorce from Ben Affleck, 52. Despite their separation, the pair reunited for their kids’ back-to-school night in September. Sources revealed that they were cordial and focused on their children.

This wasn’t the first time Lopez and Affleck were seen together post-divorce filing. They were spotted at The Beverly Hills Hotel in September with their children, and witnesses claimed to have seen them kissing and holding hands during lunch.

Lopez also attended the premiere of their film “Unstoppable” at the Toronto International Film Festival solo, but was seen holding hands and chatting intimately with Affleck’s best friend, Matt Damon, at an afterparty.

The couple tied the knot in a July 2022 service in Las Vegas and had a second lavish wedding at Affleck’s Georgia estate the following month. Lopez filed for divorce on August 20, marking the second anniversary of their second wedding ceremony.

Insiders shared that Lopez tried very hard to make her second act with Affleck work, but Affleck’s erratic mood swings contributed to their split.
