Jenny Mollen, an actress, author, and wife to 'American Pie' star Jason Biggs, has faced backlash for flying while having head lice. In a video recorded during a flight and posted to her Instagram account on October 29, Mollen, 45, revealed that she only discovered her lice infestation once the plane was in the air. Wearing a plastic bag partially covering her hair, Mollen explained that she initially attributed her 'itchy scalp' to perimenopause symptoms.

Mollen appeared to be seated in first class on a five-hour flight from Los Angeles to New York City. 'I’m on a plane with Caroline, and she just looked at my head,' she said, referring to her travel companion seated next to her. 'And remember when I told you last week that I said my head was itchy and I thought I was having perimenopause symptoms? Guess what? I have f–king lice.'

'I can’t even deal. This is insane, you guys. This is insane. We have a five-hour flight. I’m wearing a bag that these [headphones] came in on my head,' she continued, showing the headphone wrapper. She added that she had 'never had lice in my life' and believed the parasitic insects had been 'living on me for two weeks,' given how long her scalp had been itching.

Mollen's comments section quickly filled with criticism. 'You shouldn’t be on a plane and that bag should be covering ALL your hair!!!' one person commented. Another wrote, 'You better inform the flight attendants. I’d be freaking out on you if I was a passenger near you…' 'That’s disgusting. You’re going to spread that all over the plane,' someone else said. 'You should be ashamed of yourself and you’re doing a video laughing about it.'

The following day, Mollen posted another video revealing that her house was 'infested with lice.' 'We’re peeling out the lice,' she said in the reel filmed at her home. 'Last night we put the shampoo on and killed everybody,' she continued, referring to the lice. 'Now there are dead bodies and they’re being pulled from my head.' Mollen mentioned that Biggs, 46, had only 'like two eggs' in his scalp, while their young sons had full 'infestations.'

Referring to her flight, Mollen said, 'I know, the airplane seat, that’s a bummer for whoever sits there next. I want to be clear, I didn’t know that I had lice until I was on the airplane. I thought that I was going through perimenopause and for about three weeks I was just itching my scalp.' 'Let’s just blame my husband for not looking closely enough at my head,' she continued, explaining that she asked Biggs to check her scalp for lice. According to Mollen, Biggs told her that she didn’t have lice.
