For years, fans have speculated that the voice actress behind Eva in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was the same person who voiced Ariel in Disney's The Little Mermaid. The actress was only credited as Suzetta Miñet, a name with no other known credits. However, two decades later, with the upcoming release of the MGS 3 remake, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Jodi Benson has revealed herself as Eva's voice.

Benson is featured in the latest installment of Konami's Metal Gear Solid Legacy Series alongside her co-star, David Hayter, who plays Naked Snake. In a video, Benson explained why she adopted an alias for this role, which was quite different from her iconic character Ariel. "The various projects I've been involved with in my career are family-oriented and child-focused," Benson said. "It was actually Kris Zimmerman Salter, our voice director, who suggested we change my name."

Benson recounted how Salter asked her about her childhood dog's name, which was Suzette Monet. Salter then proposed using the first name Suzette and modifying the last name to Miñet for the pseudonym in the game. Benson and Hayter also shared how they recorded the romantic scenes for Eva and Snake. Since they recorded their parts separately, their kissing scenes were simulated by pressing their lips against their own hands. All voice work from MGS 3 will be retained in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, including the kissing sounds.

Konami has not yet announced a release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, but the game is anticipated for 2025. Unfortunately, a second remake of the original Metal Gear Solid does not seem to be on the horizon. Beyond the new version of Snake Eater, the only other MGS project in development is the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, which also lacks a release date.
