Jon Rahm fired a second-round six-under-par 64 to take a one-shot lead in the 54-hole $25 million LIV Golf Chicago event, part of the LIV Golf League. The tournament, held in front of over 15,000 spectators, marked the highest single-day attendance for any LIV Golf event in the United States. Rahm, a Spaniard, entered the week with a slim lead in the Individual Standings over Joaquim Niemann in the final individual season event at Bolingbrook Golf Club. Currently at seven under par, Rahm leads the leaderboard by one stroke over Fireballs GC Captain Sergio Garcia and by three strokes over Niemann, the Torque GC captain. Given Niemann's need to finish ahead of Rahm, this essentially translates to a four-shot advantage. "I keep reminding myself to focus on the tournament because if I perform well, everything else falls into place," said Rahm, who secured his first LIV Golf victory in July in the UK. "So, the aim is still to win tomorrow, and if I do, I'll leave here with two wins."

Bryson DeChambeau's Crushers GC, which includes Dubai's Anirban Lahiri and won last year in Chicago, has already secured one of the three available seeds alongside Rahm's Legion XIII. The Crushers are tied for the tournament lead with Cleeks GC at 10 under and would clinch the No. 1 overall seed with a victory. Meanwhile, the Cleeks are out of contention for a bye but can improve their standings with a second-team win. First-round leader Brooks Koepka followed his bogey-free eight-under-par 62 with a 73 that included five bogeys in his first 12 holes. However, he made two late birdies to finish at five under and solo third. Niemann is tied for fourth at four under with Dubai-based Adrian Meronk and Ian Poulter.

Meronk started with a first-round 71, featuring two birdies and three bogeys. In the second round, beginning on hole seven, he birdied six holes before bogeys on holes one and two, followed by a birdie on the fifth, with the other holes all pars, resulting in an impressive 65 that propelled him into contention. The final round tees off at 12.05 pm (Chicago time), with Meronk teeing off in the penultimate group with Poulter and Niemann. The final group, starting at 12.16 pm, sees Rahm alongside Garcia and Koepka. In the Team Event, all four scores count in the final round. For more information, visit: www.LIVGolf.com
