Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage starring as criminal twins in an action comedy directed by Max Barbakow, the mind behind Palm Springs, one of the decade's funniest films, is an enticing elevator pitch. This is precisely what we can expect from Barbakow's collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios on Brothers, a zany crime caper scripted by Macon Blair, known for The Toxic Avenger, and conceived by Etan Cohen of The Bad Guys fame. The cast is rounded out by Glenn Close as the twins' deranged mother, Brendan Fraser as a loose-cannon crook hot on their trail across America, and Marisa Tomei delivering a memorable line: "Suck on my balls!" This setup promises a wild ride.
The first trailer sets the tone immediately—with a scene featuring a balaclava-clad Brendan Fraser hurling Dinklage's character, Jady, against a wall while demanding, "Where are my emeralds?" It's evident that this film is not your typical crime drama. Instead, it appears Barbakow is blending heart with humor once more as Brolin and Dinklage's estranged brothers reunite for one final heist, only to be derailed by deep-seated family issues and the unexpected return of Close's character. Throughout the film, the leads, who share a dynamic akin to The Nice Guys, will engage in plenty of slapstick antics, possibly involving a giant orangutan named Samuel. Exciting!
Here's the official synopsis: "Brothers tells the story of a reformed criminal (Brolin) whose attempt at going straight is thwarted when he reunites with his sanity-testing twin brother (Dinklage) on a cross-country road trip for the score of a lifetime.
