Josh Hill, an emerging golf talent from Dubai, has been chosen to play for the robust England Men's team in the forthcoming Home Internationals tournament, hosted by the R&A. This esteemed event will take place at Murcar Links in Scotland from August 7th to 9th. The 20-year-old, who is a member of Trump International in Dubai, is presently enrolled at the University of Tennessee on a golf scholarship. He will join the 16-member England squad, which comprises nine men and seven women. The competition spans three days, featuring individual matches between teams from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and England. Each match includes seven foursomes (three women and four men) and 14 singles (six women and eight men), all played over 18 holes.
Josh, who has participated in several tournaments across the UK and US this summer, is now set to return to Scotland for the Home Internationals. "I am excited about playing next week in Scotland," Josh remarked. "My performance in the recent US Amateur was disappointing, and I failed to qualify, but that's part of golf. I plan to go back to the US after the tournament as the college term resumes." One of the highlights of Josh's summer was his tied 7th place finish in the 2024 St Andrews Links Trophy, where he scored rounds of 73 on the New Course and 68, 76, and 69 on the Old Course, finishing five shots behind the winner.
England has dominated the combined Girls' & Boys' Home Internationals since their inception in 2021, winning all three editions, and has also secured both combined Women's & Men's Home Internationals since their start in 2022. Among the England Women's team is Lottie Woad (Surrey), who won the Augusta National Women's Amateur in April, tied for 23rd in her first Major at the Chevron Championship, and became the first English female to rank No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. England Golf Performance Manager Ben Gorvett commented, "We've had a fruitful few months, with three teams earning medals in the European Team Championships, along with team and individual medals at the European Young Masters and strong performances in the St Andrews Trophy last week. We aim to maintain this momentum at Murcar Links against formidable opponents."
The England Men's Squad includes Seb Cave (Coxmoor, Nottinghamshire), Dominic Clemons (Gog Magog, Cambridgeshire), Matthew Dodd-Berry (Royal Liverpool, Cheshire), Charlie Forster (Basingstoke, Hampshire), Daniel Hayes (Bramhall, Cheshire), Josh Hill (Trump Dubai, United Arab Emirates), Will Hopkins (Belton Park, Lincolnshire), Tom Osborne (Lindrick, Yorkshire), and Harley Smith (The Rayleigh, Essex).
