K-pop artist Suga, a prominent member of the boy band supergroup BTS, faced police on Friday for additional interrogation regarding a drunk driving incident involving an electric scooter. Earlier this month, the musician and rapper issued an apology after being fined by police and having his license revoked for operating the e-scooter under the influence.
"I am profoundly sorry. I deeply regret letting down numerous fans and many others," Suga expressed to the media upon his arrival at the police station.
"I will fully cooperate with the investigation, and once again, I apologize," Suga stated, dressed in a black suit, with a profound bow. Authorities are anticipated to investigate the extent of his alcohol consumption and the reasons behind his decision to drive while intoxicated, according to media reports. On the day of the incident, police escorted him home as he was too inebriated to adequately respond to their inquiries, as reported by local media.
His management company, Big Hit Music, a subsidiary of K-pop conglomerate HYBE, has disclosed that Suga had a mishap while parking the scooter at night. He did not pass a breathalyzer test administered by the police, according to the company. Some disgruntled fans have placed floral arrangements near HYBE's headquarters, accompanied by messages urging him to depart from the band. HYBE has yet to provide a statement.
Since declaring a hiatus from collective projects in June 2022, BTS members have been engaged in individual pursuits prior to commencing their military service. The 31-year-old Suga has been involved in social service activities to fulfill his military obligations.
