Democrat Kamala Harris has amassed $540 million in just over a month since launching her bid for the US presidency, according to her campaign, which noted a significant influx of donations during the recent Democratic National Convention. A memo from Harris's campaign manager, Jen O'Malley Dillon, revealed that the $540 million haul included $82 million received during the convention week, underscoring the Democratic fervor for her campaign.

"This is the largest amount ever collected by any presidential campaign in such a short period," she stated. Vice-President Harris officially became a presidential candidate on July 21, following President Joe Biden's withdrawal due to concerns among fellow Democrats about his cognitive health after a faltering performance in a June 27 debate against Republican Donald Trump. Harris's candidacy has gained traction, forcing Trump onto the back foot and limiting his media presence.

Harris and her vice-presidential nominee, Tim Walz, are embarking on a bus tour across Georgia this week, aiming to garner support in a state pivotal to the November 5 election.
