Kanye 'Ye' West has been embroiled in multiple lawsuits recently, including allegations of abuse from former employees and a revised suit filed last month by a former assistant accusing him of sexual assault. Now, he faces a new lawsuit alleging he sexually assaulted a model during a 2010 music video shoot. According to NBC, which obtained the legal document, the rapper allegedly strangled the model, Jenifer An, and performed what the suit describes as 'pornographic gagging' by shoving his fingers into her mouth.
The incident took place at the Chelsea Hotel in New York City, as detailed in a federal lawsuit filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. An, a background performer in a video where Ye was a guest star, was reportedly ordered by the rapper to line up with other female models. Ye allegedly singled out An, instructing her to follow him to a suite. Despite feeling uncomfortable in her revealing lingerie, An complied.
In the suite, Ye allegedly ordered the production team to play music, but he didn't know the lyrics and instead uttered, 'Rawr, rawr, rawr.' He then positioned two chairs near the camera and instructed An to sit. The lawsuit claims Ye stood over An and began choking her with one hand, then used both hands to strangle her. He allegedly smothered her face with his hands, smearing her makeup, and forced several fingers down her throat, simulating forced oral sex.
Ye reportedly screamed, 'This is art. This is fucking art. I am like Picasso,' during the assault. The lawsuit accuses him of sexually assaulting An in a manner akin to pornographic gagging and BDSM fetishes. An, who struggled to breathe and temporarily blacked out, emerged with her face covered in saliva and smeared makeup. She is seeking compensatory and punitive damages, aiming to hold Ye accountable through the justice system. Universal Music Group is also named in the lawsuit for failing to investigate the incident.
The New York City Police Department emphasizes its serious approach to sexual assault and rape cases, urging victims to file reports for comprehensive investigation and support.
