Bollywood classic Karan Arjun, featuring Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, is gearing up for a global re-release on November 22. Directed by Rakesh Roshan, the film is cherished for its legendary narrative, memorable dialogues, and outstanding performances. Roshan shared his thoughts on the necessity of a re-release. "I am experiencing some nervousness because this feels like an experiment. Back in the day, the film succeeded because it was a complete entertainer with a reincarnation-based story—a mother who believes her sons will return, and they do. I am eager to see if today's audience still believes in such a tale. If they enjoy the film, it will signify that the generation's tastes haven't changed. But if they don't, it will show that times have indeed evolved," he stated.
Roshan also discussed the challenges he encountered while creating Karan Arjun. "This was an extremely challenging film for me because I had to persuade the audience to believe in the story. A mother asserts that her two sons will come back, and they do—demonstrating their rebirth, where they are born, how they meet, and how they find their mother. Convincing the audience was a difficult journey for me as a director," he explained. The film's dialogues, such as "Mere Karan Arjun aayenge" and "Bhaag Arjun bhaag," have become cultural touchstones, frequently appearing in memes.
Roshan expressed his joy about this lasting legacy and said, "I see memes with dialogues like 'Mere Karan Arjun aayenge' and 'Bhaag Arjun bhaag'. It's wonderful to see that even after 30 years, people remember the film, its characters, and its dialogues. It feels great that it remains fresh in people's memories." When asked about acting again, Roshan revealed, "I would love to act if someone offers me a role. However, I wouldn't cast myself in my own film because, as a producer and director, I have numerous responsibilities. Managing production, direction, and acting simultaneously is something I can't handle all at once."
