Katharine McPhee is completely at ease with her husband David Foster's advanced age. While the 'American Idol' alum celebrated her 45th birthday earlier this year, the music producer turned 75 last Friday. The couple marked the occasion with a star-studded concert at the Hollywood Bowl over the weekend. McPhee shared with People at the event that neither she nor Foster are apprehensive about their new ages.

"Honestly, I think we're both very similar in this way," she said. "I embraced my 40s, and David didn't express any disbelief about being 75, nor did I about turning 40. We didn't lament those milestones." The 'Over It' singer continued, "We didn't engage in any of that. We're both of the same mindset. We accept life as it comes and don't resist getting older because it just keeps getting better."

McPhee and Foster, who tied the knot in 2019, welcomed their son Rennie in 2021. Prior to McPhee, Foster, a Grammy-winning record producer, was married four times to B.J. Cook, Rebecca Dyer, Linda Thompson, and Yolanda Hadid. In addition to son Rennie, Foster has five daughters: Allison, 54, Amy, 51, Sara, 43, Erin, 42, and Jordan, 39.

At his 75th birthday celebration, Foster echoed McPhee's sentiments about not dwelling on their milestone birthdays. "She's fine, and I don't even think about it either," he said. "I'm just enjoying life."

McPhee first crossed paths with Foster during her appearance on Season 5 of 'American Idol' in 2006. They officially began their relationship in 2017, following McPhee's divorce from Nick Cokas. The 'Smash' star has consistently defended her 30-year age gap with Foster since their relationship began.

"We all have the ability to label things and judge based on appearances," she said on Dr. Berlin's Informed Pregnancy Podcast in 2021. "I understand the initial judgment, but things are rarely as they seem. I'm in love with our love story, and that's all that matters." McPhee added, "There was never a day I doubted my decision to be with him. Even during arguments, I'm deeply in love with him and grateful. I loved being around him even before we were married."

Earlier this year, the couple made headlines due to a resurfaced video showing Foster calling McPhee 'fat' during a concert performance of their first show together. McPhee acknowledged she was 'a little chubby' when she first met Foster and pointed to an old photo of herself on a big screen. Foster then remarked, "Oh yeah – you were fat." Foster faced online backlash for his comment but never addressed it publicly.
