The Quanaissance continues! Since Ke Huy Quan's triumphant return to Hollywood with his Oscar-winning performance in The Daniels' Everything Everywhere All At Once in 2022, the former Goonies and Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom child star has been in high demand. After teasing fans with a glimpse of Quan's first true action leading role in the upcoming 87North production Love Hurts, the actor has secured his next major project.

According to THR, Quan has signed on to star in Fairytale In New York, an original action thriller directed by Sisu's Jelmari Hellander. For those unfamiliar with Hellander's work, Sisu is a 90-minute showcase of extreme, Looney Tunes-style violence featuring a Finnish war veteran engaging in various forms of combat against Nazis. It's a wild, action-packed, and entertainingly over-the-top film. Fairytale In New York promises a similar intensity, with Quan taking on the role of a New York cabbie whose Christmas journey home to see his estranged son is derailed by a run-in with a gang of thugs, setting him on a relentless quest to retrieve his son's priceless Christmas gift.

Adam Fogelson, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group's chair, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “As soon as we watched Sisu, we knew Jalmari was a filmmaker we wanted to collaborate with again. Fairytale in New York is a thrilling action film with a heartfelt story about family. Ke Huy Quan is currently at the peak of his career, and his extensive experience in action roles, both in front of and behind the camera, along with his exceptional charm, make him the ideal choice for this role.”

While the release date and additional cast members for Fairytale In New York remain undisclosed, with Quan in the lead and Hellander directing, genre enthusiasts can look forward to an early Christmas gift in the form of this exciting new film.
