Later this year, Keanu Reeves will lend his voice to Shadow in the highly anticipated movie, Sonic the Hedgehog 3. This marks Reeves' second foray into the gaming world, having previously voiced and embodied Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077. However, before stepping into the role of Shadow, Reeves conducted thorough research, as revealed by Sonic 3 director Jeff Fowler.

"Reeves was determined to create a version of the character that resonated deeply with fans," Fowler shared during his appearance on Sonic x Shadow Revolution's Twitch stream. "In our initial meeting, it was evident that he had done his due diligence, which was truly impressive. I cannot express enough how wonderful Keanu was and what he brought to the character and the overall experience of making this film. I believe audiences will adore his portrayal of Shadow."

Fowler further added, "He found the character to be fantastic and fully grasped our vision. He was enthusiastic about delivering his interpretation of Shadow. Like the rest of the cast, he was committed to getting it right and genuinely cared... He provided numerous variations of line readings and was eager to keep refining his performance. It wasn't just about showing up and reading the script into a microphone."

Sega must have been pleased with Reeves' performance, as he will also voice Shadow in the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack DLC for Sonic x Shadow Generations. This DLC is set to release on December 12, with Sonic the Hedgehog 3 following on December 20. Additionally, Reeves' voice and likeness will feature in Prime Video's Secret Level during the Armored Core episode. This animated anthology is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on December 10.
