Towards the end of December, Keanu Reeves will lend his voice to Shadow the Hedgehog in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie. However, as revealed during Sony's State of Play, Reeves will also voice Shadow earlier in December as part of a DLC release for Sonic x Shadow Generations.
Only a short clip of the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack DLC was showcased during State of Play, but it placed Reeves' Shadow in Tokyo, one of the film's settings. Speaking to the PlayStation Blog, Shun Nakamura clarified that the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie pack is not connected to the narrative of Shadow Generations. Instead, he described it as 'bonus content,' emphasizing that Shadow's controls will remain consistent with the main game.
'The development team also lives in Tokyo, so we tried to develop this setting as an enjoyable place for a Sonic game while clearly showcasing the Tokyo-likeness,' Nakamura added. 'We even went out for research to the actual area being used in the game for inspiration. We feel it is very exciting to play as Shadow in a real existing city, so please look forward to it.'
Sonic x Shadow Generations is set to release on all consoles and PC on October 25, while the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack will be available on December 12. The DLC will also be included in the Sonic x Shadow Generations Digital Deluxe Edition.
