Bangladesh's former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has been freed from years of house arrest, according to her party, the Bangladesh National Party (BNP), following the ousting of her rival, Sheikh Hasina, as premier. A BNP spokesman, A.K.M Wahiduzzaman, informed AFP that "She is now freed," a day after orders for her release were issued in the wake of the military's takeover.
