Kim Kardashian’s stylist, Dany Levi, intended to compliment former Indian beauty queen Aishwarya Rai Bachchan by calling her 'exotic', but the term missed its mark. In a recent Instagram video, Levi discussed the Kardashians’ visit to Mumbai for the Ambani wedding, which is said to be the most expensive in the world, costing over $600 million. She revealed that the inspiration for Kim and Khloe’s Indian attire at the wedding came from Aishwarya.
The video, which has received over 30,000 likes, sparked immediate criticism. User Aarjvi Jain commented that “Overall, Kim's looks were superior to Khloe's, with her pink saree/gown being the standout. However, to the Indian eye, the outfits appeared overly sexualized and would have been better if it was just one look, rather than consistent throughout.”
In her video, Levi mentioned that Kim and Khloe collaborated with designers like Manish Malhotra and Tarun Tahiliani for their ensembles and also adorned jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz. Levi’s original post was captioned: “Thank You Kim and Khloe for being my Indian Barbies for this wedding 🩶 and Thank You India for sharing your beautiful culture and traditions with us and allowing us to take part in your magic ✨🐘🥀”
The Kardashians were in Mumbai during the July 12 weekend for the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. While there, the sisters took a break to serve food to children at the ISKCON temple in Mumbai.
