Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will not feature any form of DRM, according to Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, the PR head at developer Warhorse. This was confirmed during a recent Twitch stream. The RPG will not use Denuvo or any other DRM system, as reported by IGN. Stolz-Zwilling mentioned that Warhorse had considered using DRM to protect the game from piracy but ultimately decided against it.
Stolz-Zwilling expressed hope that this announcement would put an end to the community's ongoing questions about whether Deliverance 2 would include DRM. He urged fans to stop speculating about Denuvo being in the game, as it was never planned. The confusion likely stemmed from an email from publisher Plaion that mentioned Denuvo, but this will not be the case.
Many publishers and developers use Denuvo and similar anti-piracy tools to deter piracy at launch. While most games eventually get cracked, these tools make it more challenging. Denuvo has been controversial due to claims that it negatively impacts game performance, though this is disputed.
Deliverance 2 is set to launch in February 2025 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The open-world RPG is set in the Middle Ages and aims to be more accessible in both story and gameplay while retaining the elements that appealed to the original game's hardcore fans. The 2018 release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance was partially funded through Kickstarter and went on to sell over eight million copies. Daniel Vavra, known for his work on the Mafia series, directed both the original game and its sequel.
