Hideo Kojima and his Kojima Productions team recently revealed a wealth of new footage and details for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach at the Tokyo Game Show. Kojima also disclosed that he is aware of the game's release date. However, fans will have to wait until 2025 for the official announcement.

"I haven't disclosed the release date today, but it has already been decided, and I'm currently working towards that," Kojima stated at TGS, as reported by VGC. He confirmed that the Death Stranding 2 release date will be announced "at some point" in 2025. "Due to some unforeseen circumstances, we cannot announce it today," he explained, without elaborating on the reasons.

Kojima is close friends with Geoff Keighley, who hosts The Game Awards every December. Some speculated that Kojima might reveal the game's release date during the event, but it appears that won't happen, though plans can always change. The game was previously announced for a 2025 release.

Death Stranding 2 will be a console exclusive for PlayStation, as part of Kojima's partnership with the company. In addition to Death Stranding 2, Kojima Productions is working on a Death Stranding movie with A24, along with several other games, including the Xbox-exclusive OD and the espionage game Physint.

The original Death Stranding was released in 2019 and received mixed reviews. It is a unique journey into extinction, featuring performances by Hollywood stars such as Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen. The sequel, much like the first game, appears to be equally unique and unconventional. You can watch the latest gameplay footage in the video above.
