Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has revealed a collaboration with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, despite facing backlash from fans who thought his passion for the game was affecting his performance on the field. The partnership is accompanied by a new Replacer advertisement, where the Replacer steps in to handle a press conference for Murray.
Murray shared the news on Twitter, stating, "To the trolls who memed me into a bag, thank you!" This response was directed at those who previously criticized him for playing Call of Duty excessively, a sentiment that arose after he signed a contract with an "independent study" clause, which was subsequently removed. The clause required Murray to dedicate four hours a week to studying football film without any distractions, a requirement unusual for starting quarterbacks in the NFL.
After the clause became public, rumors spread that it was due to Murray's extensive gaming sessions. Fans even scrutinized his performance on double XP weekends, comparing it to his usual stats. The new ad playfully addresses this, with the YouTube description stating, "No need to wait for a double XP weekend when you have The Replacer."
This partnership marks another appearance for The Replacer, a character previously featured in older Call of Duty ads. The Replacer takes over your responsibilities so you can focus on gaming, and in this ad, he impersonates the Pope for Black Ops 6. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set to release on October 25 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC. For more details, check out GameSpot's Black Ops 6 preorder guide.
