The 88 members of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), which includes France and Canada, have collectively called for an 'immediate and lasting' ceasefire in Lebanon, according to French President Emmanuel Macron. Speaking on Saturday, Macron stated, 'We have unanimously expressed ourselves in favour of an immediate and lasting ceasefire and have stated our commitment to de-escalating tensions in the region.' He made these remarks at the conclusion of a 'Francophonie' summit. Additionally, Macron announced that France would be hosting an international conference in support of Lebanon in October. Macron also expressed concerns on Saturday regarding the decision of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to deploy troops for a ground invasion into Lebanon.
