Lea Thompson was visibly moved when questioned about her former fiancé, Dennis Quaid, and his public backing of President-elect Donald Trump after his significant victory. Thompson, best known for her role in "Back to the Future," was engaged to Quaid in 1984. The couple, who dated for five years, ended their relationship in 1987. When asked about Quaid's support for Trump shortly after his win over Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, Thompson was unable to hold back her tears.

Earlier, Thompson had already expressed her dismay over Quaid's endorsement, particularly after he spoke at a Trump rally in California last month. She urged her followers to "stop the stupid." In a recent interview with Daily Mail, Thompson was asked how she planned to move forward given her ex-partner's political stance. "I don't know. I'm sorry," she responded, pausing and beginning to cry. When asked if she felt hopeful, Thompson admitted, "I don't feel so hopeful. I feel... scared. I have daughters."

The actress, visibly struggling with her emotions, further explained, "I don't know if it will affect you or me, but I am a mom and know people that have been very affected by having babies that have died. It just, I feel really bad for them. But America's spoken." Thompson, who shares two daughters with her husband, director Howard Deutch, added, "We fight the fights. We fight to fight and the battles that we want to carry. It's just not a lot of fun right now."

In a lighter moment, Thompson joked that America might need the DeLorean from "Back to the Future" to time travel, referencing the iconic 1985 film. "We need that," she laughed. "We need to get on that." The Post reached out to Quaid's representative for comment. Thompson's comments come shortly after she criticized Quaid for his enthusiastic support of Trump's MAGA movement.
