Residents in southern Lebanon received calls from a Lebanese number instructing them to immediately move 1,000 meters away from any position used by the Lebanese group Hezbollah, according to a Reuters reporter in the region. The reporter received the call on Monday. Earlier, in a televised statement, the Israeli military spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari issued a similar warning, stating that it was being 'distributed in Arabic on all networks and platforms in Lebanon.'
Simultaneously, the Israeli military launched its most extensive wave of airstrikes against Hezbollah in nearly a year, targeting southern Lebanon, the eastern Bekaa valley, and the northern region near Syria. When asked by reporters about a potential Israeli ground incursion into Lebanon, Hagari responded, 'We will do whatever is necessary' to ensure the safe return of evacuated residents from northern Israel, which is a top priority for the Israeli government.
These latest attacks occurred amid some of the heaviest cross-border exchanges of fire in the ongoing conflict, which is also taking place alongside the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. Hagari warned that Hezbollah has over the years hidden weapons, including cruise missiles, in houses and buildings throughout southern Lebanon, urging residents to stay away from these sites.
During a media briefing, Hagari presented an aerial video showing what he described as Hezbollah operatives attempting to launch cruise missiles from a civilian house in Lebanon, followed by an Israeli strike moments before the launch. 'Hezbollah is endangering you. Endangering you and your families,' Hagari emphasized.
