Leeds climbed to second place in the Championship after capitalizing on two goalkeeping errors by Watford’s Daniel Bachmann to secure a 2-1 victory at Elland Road. The Austrian goalkeeper was responsible for both Leeds’ goals, as they surged to a 2-0 lead within the first seven minutes through Largie Ramazani and Brenden Aaronson. Kwadwo Baah pulled one back for Watford, who showed significant improvement in the second half, but Leeds managed to hold on for consecutive home wins within a span of five days. Daniel Farke’s team extended their unbeaten league streak to six matches and have now lost just one of their first 11 games, while Watford suffered their fifth consecutive away league defeat.

Cardiff moved out of the relegation zone with a second consecutive home win, this time against Portsmouth. A Regan Poole own goal and Callum Robinson’s close-range finish put Cardiff in control after just 13 minutes. The Bluebirds’ only regret was that the margin of victory should have been much wider than the final 2-0 scoreline. The victory, following Saturday’s 5-0 thrashing of Plymouth, strengthens interim manager Omer Riza’s case for securing the job on a permanent basis. Riza took over last month with Cardiff at the bottom of the table after a dismal start to the season; one point from six games led to Erol Bulut’s departure. Since losing his first match at Hull, Riza has accumulated 10 points from four games.

Shane Duffy ensured Norwich extended their unbeaten run to six matches by rallying from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Preston. Sam Greenwood’s early penalty and Duane Holmes’ goal put Preston ahead, but Borja Sainz and Duffy scored to level the match. It was the first time Preston have scored under Paul Heckingbottom at Deepdale without winning, but they remain unbeaten at home under the former Sheffield United manager.

Dane Scarlett scored for the second consecutive game in Oxford’s 1-1 draw with Derby at the Kassam Stadium, marking their fifth successive Championship stalemate. Scarlett, making his first league start, put Oxford ahead in the 12th minute, but Nathaniel Mendez-Laing equalized for Derby in the second half. Nahki Wells scored a quick double as Bristol City came from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Stoke. Lewis Koumas and Andrew Moran had put Stoke 2-0 up early, but Wells’ brace leveled the match. The draw extended Bristol City’s unbeaten run to six matches, despite the absence of head coach Liam Manning following the death of his son Theo earlier this month.

Teenager Kieran Morgan’s first career goal lifted QPR off the bottom of the table as they fought to a 1-1 draw against Coventry. The 18-year-old midfielder, making only his second substitute appearance, scored midway through the second half to secure a point. QPR had fallen behind to an early Haji Wright goal, but Morgan’s strike denied Coventry their first away win of the season. While QPR’s wait for a first home win continues, they did climb above Portsmouth on goal difference at the bottom of the table.

Swansea’s winless run extended to five matches after a 0-0 draw with Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough. Both sides had chances to secure all three points, but neither could find the net.
