Liam Payne was reportedly found “unconscious” in the lobby of his Buenos Aires hotel just before his tragic death, according to an eyewitness interviewed for a recent “Nightline” documentary special. Produced by ABC News Studio, the latest installment of their “Impact x Nightline” series, which aired on Thursday, delved into the former One Direction singer’s final days in Argentina before he fell from the balcony of his third-floor room at the CasaSur Palermo hotel on October 16.

“We had several encounters with Liam,” an unnamed guest stated in the special, as reported by Us Weekly. “He repeatedly came down to the lobby, causing disturbances, and was repeatedly escorted back to his room.” The guest, described as a tourist, remembered the singer appearing “very agitated” each time they saw him in the lobby.

“Liam was seen smashing his laptop in the lobby,” the person recounted to “Nightline.” “And then the last time he came back down, he actually lost consciousness in the hotel lobby.” This account aligns with earlier reports that claimed Payne had smashed his laptop in the CasaSur hotel lobby before his death and was behaving erratically.

Payne had checked into the CasaSur hotel after reportedly being asked to leave another Buenos Aires hotel “due to his disruptive behavior and apparent intoxication.” Although it’s unclear how Payne managed to return to his hotel room after supposedly passing out in the lobby, a TMZ report published shortly after his death suggested that the singer had to be physically carried back to his suite.

At around 5 p.m. local time, a hotel manager called emergency services, requesting help for a guest who appeared to be intoxicated, under the influence of drugs, and damaging items in his room. By the time first responders arrived, Payne had already fallen from his third-floor balcony. A preliminary autopsy report, viewed by multiple news outlets, concluded that the star died from “multiple injuries” involving both internal and external bleeding.

The autopsy also revealed that Payne had a dangerous mix of drugs in his system, including “Cristal,” a drug known for inducing powerful hallucinations, and “pink cocaine,” also known as Tusi, which combines methamphetamine, ketamine, and ecstasy. The report indicated that Payne was “in a state of semi or total unconsciousness” when he fell.

Photographs of Payne’s hotel room, taken after his tragic passing, showed a disturbing scene: a smashed TV, drug-related paraphernalia, and possible illicit substances. On Wednesday, Buenos Aires police raided Payne’s hotel and reportedly seized computer hard drives and footage from hotel cameras.

Law enforcement is currently investigating who provided Payne with the illicit drugs found in his system, with a particular focus on a Dove soap box discovered in the singer’s hotel room, which officials believe may have been used to discreetly transport drugs to him. The investigation into Payne’s death remains ongoing.
