Liverpool have secured the signing of Italian forward Federico Chiesa from Juventus on a long-term contract, as announced by both clubs on Thursday. Juventus disclosed that the transfer fee is 12 million euros ($13.30 million) plus an additional 3 million in performance-related bonuses for the 26-year-old, whose contract with the Serie A side was due to end in 2025. Chiesa, who endured a severe knee injury in 2022 that kept him out for 10 months, has recovered and last season contributed 10 goals and three assists in 37 appearances across all competitions for Juventus. The versatile winger, capable of playing centrally as well, has netted 32 goals in 131 matches during his four-year tenure at Juventus, initially joining on loan from Fiorentina in 2020.

"I am thrilled to become a Liverpool player," Chiesa expressed in an official statement. "When (sporting director) Richard Hughes contacted me and asked, 'Would you like to join Liverpool?' – and the coach (Arne Slot) also reached out – I didn't hesitate to say yes, understanding the illustrious history of this club and its significance to the fans." Chiesa was omitted from Juventus' first two league matches due to a lack of favor under new manager Thiago Motta. His addition to Anfield bolsters Slot's already formidable attacking options, which include Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, and Darwin Nunez.

"It's a dream come true," Chiesa shared in a video on Instagram. "The mention of Liverpool evokes thoughts of trophies, triumphs, and memorable Champions League nights at Anfield." He continued, "It's incredibly moving for me. I eagerly anticipate hearing the 60,000 fans sing 'You'll Never Walk Alone.' I am committed to giving my all for this shirt and the supporters. Forza Liverpool." Chiesa has earned 51 caps for Italy, scoring seven goals, and was part of the team that won Euro 2020, also participating in this year's European Championship. This marks Liverpool's second acquisition of the off-season, following the agreement of a reported 30 million pounds ($39.46 million) deal for goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, with the Georgian expected to join the squad for the upcoming season.
