Loop Global, a US-based provider of comprehensive electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, is poised to significantly enhance the UAE’s EV infrastructure by installing 1,000 units across the country in the next year. “We will start with over 1,000 units in our inventory and plan to expand this to accommodate increasing demand,” stated Zack Martin, Loop’s president and co-founder, in an interview with Khaleej Times. This announcement came as the California-based firm established its regional headquarters in Abu Dhabi to support the UAE’s burgeoning demand for eco-friendly transportation and to further its clean energy objectives.

Loop offers advanced level 2 and DC fast-charging solutions suitable for residential, workplace, and public settings. Its Flex and Infinity systems are designed for both passenger and commercial vehicles, providing rapid charging capabilities. The 22 kW EV-Flex stations offer up to 77 miles of range per hour, while the 300 kW Infinity Flash stations can deliver up to 800 miles of range per hour. The company’s mobile app enables drivers to locate the nearest chargers, initiate, monitor, and pay for charging sessions.

Martin also emphasized the creation of new employment opportunities, as Abu Dhabi is set to become Loop’s future manufacturing hub. “Loop aims to establish Abu Dhabi as its global center of excellence outside the US, serving as the R&D, manufacturing, and distribution hub, thereby creating local jobs,” he explained. The installation of the first charging units is scheduled to commence in the final quarter of this year.

“Our goal is to become the leading EV charging provider in the UAE and leverage Abu Dhabi as a base for our regional expansion,” stated Loop CEO Olga Shevorenkova. The new regional headquarters in Abu Dhabi was set up in response to the escalating demand for EV technologies both locally and regionally. “The UAE’s leadership has shown a strong commitment to leading the global transition to clean energy and has been remarkably forward-thinking in achieving its sustainability and net-zero emission targets,” Martin added. The office will showcase Loop’s innovative charging technology and act as the sales and distribution center for the broader region. Reem Mall is one of the initial locations in Abu Dhabi to feature Loop charging stations.

Kuwait’s logistics giant Agility Global, which is listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), is an investor in Loop. “Agility Global aligns with Abu Dhabi’s vision of a cleaner energy future. By supporting Loop’s establishment here, we contribute to Abu Dhabi’s sustainability goals, attract investment, create jobs, and foster innovation,” noted Tarek Sultan, Agility Global’s chairman.
