LuLu Group India, a leading owner of hypermarkets and shopping malls, is poised to extend its footprint nationwide with the development of new shopping malls, hypermarkets, and food processing facilities in several states, including Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Jammu & Kashmir. M A Yusuff Ali, the Chairman of LuLu Group India, has recently engaged in a series of discussions with state government representatives and Chief Ministers, such as MK Stalin of Tamil Nadu and Bhupendra Patel of Gujarat, to advance these plans.
LuLu Group is on track to build one of the most extensive shopping malls in India in Ahmedabad, with a projected investment of ₹4,000 crore. The land for this venture has been secured on SP Ring Road in Chandkheda through a successful auction by the Ahmedabad Municipal Council. Construction of the mall is anticipated to commence shortly, according to Yusuff Ali, who also noted that the project will generate over 7,500 direct and indirect jobs.
At the India UAE Business Summit, held alongside the Vibrant Gujarat summit, Yusuff Ali emphasized the enduring and deepening ties between India and the UAE, highlighting the reciprocal visits of President Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He further mentioned collaborative efforts with the UAE government to establish Asia's largest food park in Gujarat, featuring a food processing and logistics center.
In Tamil Nadu, LuLu Group is progressing with plans to introduce shopping malls and hypermarkets across the state, with a focus on finalizing locations in Chennai. The group currently operates a hypermarket in Coimbatore, which opened its doors last year. Additionally, LuLu Group is establishing fruit and vegetable sourcing and export hubs in Jammu & Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh, which will significantly support the local agricultural sector.
With existing malls in seven Indian cities and new openings scheduled in Kozhikode and Kottayam this year, Yusuff Ali outlined the group's strategy to consolidate its presence in current markets and explore new opportunities in retail, hospitality, and food processing sectors throughout India.
