The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) and The Lux Collective have revealed that construction on LUX* Al Jabal Resort in Khorfakkan is 40% complete, while work on LUX* Al Bridi Resort in Al Dhaid is 25% finished. Both projects, with a combined investment of Dh320 million, are set to be completed by the end of 2025, significantly boosting Sharjah's luxury eco-tourism sector.
LUX* Al Jabal Resort, located along the Gulf of Oman between Khorfakkan and Luluyah, will offer 45 upscale accommodations, including one-bedroom and two-bedroom units. Meanwhile, LUX* Al Bridi Resort, adjacent to Sharjah Safari, will feature 35 tented retreats, comprising 21 one-bedroom, 8 two-bedroom, and 6 three-bedroom units.
Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, CEO of Shurooq, emphasized the importance of these resorts in enhancing Sharjah's global tourism profile, particularly as environmental awareness grows. He highlighted the projects' unique locations, which require careful construction to preserve the natural environment, reflecting Shurooq's commitment to eco-friendly tourism.
Olivier Chavy, CEO of The Lux Collective, expressed pride in partnering with Shurooq to advance sustainable tourism. He noted the company's focus on curating immersive eco-luxury experiences, aligning with UN goals and international standards to ensure responsible tourism that benefits natural ecosystems, heritage, and local communities.
Shurooq's resorts are pivotal in driving Sharjah's burgeoning hospitality and tourism sector, which saw a 11% increase in guest numbers in 2023, reaching over 1.5 million. These projects align with the UAE's national strategy to attract Dh450 billion in investments by 2031, with a strong emphasis on eco-tourism and sustainable development.
