In 2019, Fatal Fury's Mai Shiranui was one of the most sought-after fighters for Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. She was left out of the game because, as Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai put it, 'Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is for good boys and girls of many different ages.' However, Mai is set to make her debut in Street Fighter 6 early next year, and she's featured in a new teaser trailer showcasing her combat prowess. Interestingly, Mai refers to herself as 'a good girl' in the video while offering some fighting advice to a novice on her Fatal Fury 2 stage. Their training session is soon disrupted by some ill-mannered ninjas who have it out for Mai. These shinobi clearly chose the wrong opponent, as Mai elegantly and efficiently takes them down. Mai had previously appeared as a guest character in the zombie survival mobile game Doomsday: Last Survivors earlier this year, but Street Fighter 6 marks her first encounter with Capcom characters since SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos in 2003. Mai's Fatal Fury comrade, Terry Bogard, was introduced to Street Fighter 6 earlier this year. Terry and Mai will also reunite in Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves, the first installment in the series in 25 years. City of the Wolves will offer not only standard fighting game matches but also a solo-player RPG mode when it launches on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC on April 25, 2025.
