Malawi's Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima and nine other individuals were aboard an aircraft that has disappeared, according to a statement from Malawi's presidency on Monday. The Office of the President and Cabinet reported that all attempts by aviation authorities to reestablish contact with the aircraft since it vanished from radar have been unsuccessful. Chilima, aged 51, was on a Malawi Defense Force aircraft that departed from the capital, Lilongwe, at 0917 local time (0717 GMT). The statement also mentioned that search and rescue operations are currently underway.
