A man was arrested for assaulting a girl at one of Kuwait's shopping malls, according to the country's Ministry of Interior on Friday.
A video of the assault incident spread rapidly on social media. In a post on X, the ministry stated that a court case has been initiated against the man, who was apprehended after evading authorities for some time. Regarding the girl's condition, the ministry added that she is in good health and has been discharged from the hospital.
Assault carries one of the harshest penalties under Kuwait's Penal Code. It involves a prison sentence of up to two years and a fine, or either of these penalties, for anyone who intentionally beats, wounds, or injures another person.
